The Garmin GRID™ Wireless Controller provides remote control of compatible Garmin Multi Function Displays (MFDs), allowing operators to conveniently access navigation, charting, radar, sonar, and system functions without relying solely on the touchscreen or display controls.
This article demonstrates how to properly pair a Garmin GRID Controller to the vessel’s Garmin Multi Function Display system installed onboard Ocean Alexander yachts.
The pairing process allows the GRID Controller to communicate directly with the selected MFD and provides an additional control interface for improved navigation and system operation.
When to Pair the Garmin GRID Controller #
Pairing may be required when:
- Installing a new GRID Controller.
- Replacing an existing controller.
- Moving a controller to another station.
- The GRID Controller is no longer communicating with the MFD.
- The controller has been reset or removed from the system.
Before Pairing #
Before beginning the pairing procedure:
- Confirm the Garmin MFD is powered on.
- Verify the GRID Controller has adequate battery power or power supply.
- Ensure the controller is within range of the MFD.
- Confirm the Garmin network is operational.
Pairing Procedure #
Follow the onboard Garmin MFD prompts to complete the pairing process:
- Power on the Garmin Multi Function Display.
- Access the Garmin system settings menu.
- Navigate to the GRID Controller pairing section.
- Select Pair New GRID Controller.
- Place the GRID Controller into pairing mode.
- Select the GRID Controller when it appears on the MFD.
- Confirm the pairing connection.
