Overview #
The Maretron Fluid Pressure Transducer is responsible for monitoring fuel tank levels through the vessel’s NMEA 2000 network and transmitting tank level data to the Octoplex monitoring system.
If the Octoplex/Maretron fuel level display shows “No Data”, incorrect tank volume readings, or inaccurate fuel level information, recalibration of the Maretron fuel sender may be required.
This article provides guidance on recalibrating the Maretron Fuel Level Sender to restore accurate fuel tank readings and ensure proper communication between the tank monitoring system, NMEA 2000 network, and Octoplex display.
When Calibration May Be Required #
Fuel sender calibration should be considered if:
- Fuel tank levels display “No Data”.
- Displayed fuel volume does not match actual tank levels.
- Fuel readings are inconsistent between displays.
- A Maretron pressure transducer has been replaced.
- Tank monitoring components have been serviced or reconfigured.
System Overview #
The Maretron Fluid Pressure Transducer measures the hydrostatic pressure within the fuel tank and converts this information into a digital tank level reading.
The signal is transmitted through the:
Maretron Pressure Transducer → NMEA 2000 Network → Octoplex System → Vessel Display
Proper calibration ensures the system accurately interprets tank pressure and converts it into a usable fuel volume measurement.
Fuel Sender Calibration Procedure #
Follow the Maretron calibration procedure using the vessel’s approved monitoring interface.
General calibration steps include:
- Verify the fuel tank level is known.
- Access the Maretron configuration settings.
- Select the appropriate fuel tank sender/transducer.
- Perform the required calibration procedure.
- Confirm the updated fuel level reading.
- Verify accuracy at the vessel display.
Always reference the Maretron installation and operating documentation for specific menu navigation and calibration parameters.
Pressure Transducer Replacement #
If replacing the Maretron Fluid Pressure Transducer, confirm the replacement component matches the installed system specifications.
The Maretron fuel pressure transducer uses:
Connection Size:
¼” NPT Male Thread
Installation requirements:
- Install the pressure transducer into a ¼” NPT female fitting on the monitored system or fuel tank.
- Apply proper thread sealing practices suitable for the application.
- Do not overtighten the fitting.
Maximum Installation Torque:
133–177 in-lbs (15–20 Nm)
Important: Excessive torque may damage the pressure transducer housing or fitting threads.
Troubleshooting Tips #
If fuel readings remain inaccurate after calibration:
- Confirm the NMEA 2000 network is operational.
- Verify the Maretron device is recognized on the network.
- Inspect wiring connections and terminations.
- Confirm the correct tank is assigned to the correct sender.
- Check the pressure transducer for blockage, damage, or incorrect installation.
- Verify actual fuel level against the displayed value.
Maintenance Note #
Accurate fuel level monitoring is dependent on proper calibration, clean sensor installation, and reliable network communication. Calibration should be verified after any fuel system service, sender replacement, or major vessel electrical configuration change.
