Glendinning® Cablemaster™ CM8

Your Ocean Alexander yacht is equipped with a Glendinning® Cablemaster™ CM8, an automated shore power cable management system designed to safely deploy, retrieve, and store heavy-gauge shore power cables. The Cablemaster simplifies shore power connection while reducing manual handling, minimizing cable wear, and promoting safe dockside operations.

Proper operation of the Cablemaster is essential for the safe transfer of electrical power between the dock and your vessel. Before connecting to shore power, always verify that the dock pedestal provides the correct voltage, frequency, phase, and amperage required for your yacht. Operating the vessel with an incorrect electrical supply may result in equipment damage, electrical faults, or hazardous conditions.

This knowledge base section provides guidance for:

  • System Operation – Proper deployment, retrieval, and storage of shore power cables.
  • Safe Shore Power Connection – Procedures for verifying dockside electrical service and making safe electrical connections.
  • Routine Inspection & Maintenance – Recommended inspections, cable care, and preventative maintenance to maximize system reliability.
  • Troubleshooting – Common operational issues and recommended corrective actions.
  • Manufacturer Documentation – Original equipment manuals, wiring information, and service documentation.

Important: Always switch the dock pedestal breaker OFF before connecting or disconnecting the shore power cable. Inspect the cable and connectors for signs of wear, corrosion, overheating, or physical damage before each use, and fully extend the cable during operation to prevent excessive heat buildup. Installation, electrical modifications, diagnostics, and repairs should only be performed by qualified marine service personnel in accordance with Glendinning’s recommendations and all applicable marine electrical standards.
