Your Ocean Alexander yacht is equipped with an MZ Electronic® EV-011 Chain Counter, a digital display designed to accurately monitor the amount of anchor chain deployed or retrieved during anchoring operations. The EV-011 enhances situational awareness by displaying the length of chain paid out in either feet or meters, allowing for more precise anchor deployment and improved anchoring practices.
The EV-011 is a display-only device. It receives signals from a magnetic sensor mounted on the windlass gypsy and calculates the amount of chain passing through the windlass. The chain counter does not control the windlass. All anchor deployment and retrieval functions are performed using the helm controls, deck-mounted foot switches, handheld remote, or other installed windlass controls. The buttons located on the EV-011 display are used solely for system setup, calibration, and configuration.

Important: The chain counter is an aid to anchoring and should not be relied upon as the sole indication of anchor position or chain length. Always visually monitor anchor deployment, verify proper anchor set, and maintain awareness of water depth, seabed conditions, and available swinging room. Periodically verify the chain counter’s calibration, particularly after maintenance to the windlass, chain, or magnetic sensor, to ensure accurate chain length readings.
