Introduction #
The Headhunter HMX SYM controller requires proper calibration to ensure accurate pressure regulation, reliable pump operation, and optimum freshwater system performance. Correct calibration allows the controller to accurately interpret pressure sensor inputs, minimize unnecessary pump cycling, and maintain consistent water pressure throughout the vessel.
Calibration should be performed during commissioning, after replacing system components such as pressure transducers or controllers, or whenever system performance indicates the pressure readings may no longer be accurate.
Before beginning the calibration process, verify that the freshwater system is fully operational, all electrical connections are secure, and the pressure sensor has been installed correctly. It is also recommended to record the existing settings before making any adjustments so they can be restored if necessary.
Once calibration is complete, test the system by operating multiple fixtures throughout the vessel to verify stable pressure, proper pump operation, and normal controller response. Any adjustments should be made incrementally, with the system tested after each change.
Proper calibration helps maximize component life, improve water system reliability, and ensure the HMX SYM controller operates as designed.
Before You Begin #
Before calibrating the system:
- Ensure the freshwater tank contains sufficient water.
- Verify all pumps and pressure transducers are connected.
- Confirm system power is stable.
- Remove any air from the freshwater system.
- Record the current controller settings.
- Verify there are no active fault or alarm conditions.
General Calibration Guidelines #
- Calibrate only when the system is in normal operating condition.
- Make small adjustments and verify system performance after each change.
- Avoid setting pressures outside the manufacturer’s recommended operating range.
- Confirm all programmed values are saved before exiting the controller menu.
- Document the final calibration settings in the vessel’s maintenance records.
