Switching Between ECO and Standard Heating Modes #
Overview #
This tutorial demonstrates how to switch your SunRans Jacuzzi equipped with the Balboa TP600 Spa Controller between ECO Mode and Standard Mode. Selecting the appropriate heating mode allows you to balance energy consumption with water temperature availability based on how frequently the spa is used.
Understanding the differences between these operating modes helps maximize comfort while minimizing unnecessary energy use during periods of low demand.
Standard Mode #
Standard Mode continuously monitors the spa water temperature and automatically heats the water whenever it falls below the selected set point.
This mode provides:
- Immediate spa availability.
- Consistent water temperature.
- Maximum user comfort.
- Best performance for frequently used spas.
Because the heater maintains temperature around the clock, Standard Mode consumes more energy than ECO Mode.
ECO Mode #
ECO Mode is designed to reduce energy consumption by limiting when the heater is allowed to operate.
In ECO Mode, the spa only heats during its programmed filtration cycles rather than continuously maintaining the selected temperature. As a result, the water temperature may fluctuate between heating cycles and may require additional time to reach the desired temperature before use.
ECO Mode is recommended when:
- The spa will not be used for several days.
- The vessel is unattended.
- Energy conservation is desired.
- Reducing generator or shore power load is a priority.
Choosing the Correct Mode #
Use Standard Mode when:
- The spa is used regularly.
- Guests are onboard.
- Immediate availability is desired.
Use ECO Mode when:
- The vessel is laid up between trips.
- The spa is used infrequently.
- Conserving electrical power is a priority.
